Estimate materials before you buy, then compare costs using the measurements and prices you actually have.
Measure the area first
For walls, record room length, width and height. For flooring, measure the space you will cover. Subtract openings where the calculator allows them, and check the unit shown in each field before entering a number.
Estimate material separately from cost
Use the paint, tile, flooring, concrete or gravel calculator to estimate quantities. Then add prices with the paint or fence cost calculator. A quantity estimate is a starting point; package sizes, cuts, waste and local prices can change what you purchase.
Check your assumptions
For a 12 × 12 ft room with 8 ft walls, the gross wall area is 384 sq ft before doors and windows. Enter your actual opening area, coats and coverage in the paint tool. Confirm manufacturer coverage and any extra paint needed for repairs or texture.
